Look at the chrome rims. That's the only thing I see that's not correct. Or...am I wrong. Anyway the owner must be very happy with this cherry 38 coupe. It gives me a model to shoot for..not that I'll ever get there.

That is one beautiful car. Thanks for sharing. I wonder though if you happen to have gotten a picture of the one on the other side of it. It looks as if it may be a 38 Cabriolet. If so do you mind sharing a picture of it as well. Best wishes, Charlie
BTW: You take a nice picture.

Nice car! It doesn't appear to have a heater in it. I had to put one in mine since I'm such a sissy. hood laugh

Not crazy about the color but it's loaded.

The yellow car does not have chrome wheels. It has the CORRECT accessory chrome wheel discs that cover the hub of the wheel, fit behind the hub cap and extend to the rim. On the rim there is the stainless trim rings that were also an accessory. If the wheels were a darker color the paints color would show up better in the slightly exposed parts of the wheels next to the trim rings.
The yellow car appears to have the incorrect fog lamps but looks correct in all other areas.

The two maroon cars are Pinky Randall's cars and yes, the coupe had the wheel center trim also

OK - I missed one thing on the coupe. The under side of the hood should be a medium dark gray color.

That would mean three different chrome items on a stock rim? Sounds great. I've never seen this item for sale in any catalog or online. You wouldn't happen to know where someone could buy this item would you? Thanks in advance.

btw. I always thought the photos were showing a chrome rim with chrome cap and beauty ring.

Isn't the center stainless steel trim supposed to be the larger of the three; with the red stripe? Didn’t the Master Delux have that written on the center stripe? Was the chrome edge on the running boards considered an accessory or was that only on the Master Delux? I thought the Master running boards were embossed so they couldn't take the chrome piece and only the Cabriolet had the chrome edge on the running boards in the Master series.

The center moulding was slightly wider and had a red line. The M.D. had the plate with the name at the front of the center moulding. The yellow car looks to have the louvers painted RED....and is screwed up in that area. The exact width og the moulding is difficult to determine in the pictures.
The Cabroilet had Master Deluxe trim so the running board moulding and bumper guards were standard equipment.

There was another wheel trim option. It was first offered in 1937 and replaced the hub cao. It looked like a big fat 1937-38 hub cap and covered up to the rim. Was available in 1937 and early 1938. The center hub trim superceeded it and looked much better. The early version stuck out too far and looked bulky.
The late style is made from steel and chrome plated. If you find used ones they usually need replating. They were made by Lyon and sold as a Chevrolet accessory. Lyon also made the 1939 accy full wheel cap, the 1940-41 trims as well as wheel trims for many makes of cars.

Beautiful cars! I actually think I like the painted rims with the proper pinstripes better though.

The coupe looks to be a Master with the MD stainless steel trim on the running boards and the thick hood trim with the red strip is on top of the three. The Cabriolet looks to have the thick hood trim in the middle.

The coupe is a M.D,,,you can see where the radius arm is attached to the knee-action unit at the corner of the bumper and wheel Also the wheel/tire is out farther is in fender opening due to the wider front tread of the M.D. models.

Chevgene, How do you spot all those itty-bitty obscure details? One would think you have personally disassembled or assembled every old Chevrolet since ought eleven. This is not a negative criticism but just a fan of yours marveling at your knowledge and attention to details.

Thanks to Wawuzit for sharing the excellent photographs. All three cars are just jaw dropping.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope you at least get some "Snap-On" tools. Charlie

BTW Chevgene: In addition to the "Snap-On" tools, I hope Santa leaves you a whole case of 85W-90 under the tree.

I hope I don't get any Snap-On tools for Christmas gifts. After I left the dealership in 1977 I sold Matco Tools. Retired in 1997 and still sell an "Independent" line of tools on a part time bases. xmastree
Merry Christmas to you and the other Chatter II guys as well gsanta

I have found a couple of Snap-on sockets, one ratchet and a 1/2 by 9/16 box end wrenches in my car when it came back from the Chevrolet garage, but it is usually just a candy wrapper, I always look for them presents from those rich mechanics that buy Snap-On tools and pay for them with those easy weekly payments.

I also marvel at Gene's knowledge and powers of observation. I worry though, that if we keep telling him this stuff, his head will get so big it explodes. What will we do then??

Well, 35Mike, I just don't know what we'll do. Gene is not the only one out there who knows things. Nonetheless he is one who is willing to do the research and post good sound reasoning for his replies to most all our stove bolt dilemmas. Now that is truly a treasure to be used and saved.

I suggest we get him knee walking drunk and take him to the nearest facility with one of those Cray computers and hook his head up to it. Fast as that computer is, it may take a while to download all the info. So we may have to tape a hose to his mouth tap him into a barrel or two to make sure we get the job done.

Then we wouldn't have to keep stroking his ego. We'd merely search into the downloaded file. That would also end all the questions on this here site. We wouldn't need him anymore. Then again, maybe we need to reconsider this solution.

I hope to meet Gene someday. I would consider it an honor.

Best, Charlie
