I hold in my hand a Chevrolet brochure dated 128 (Dec 1928).

Among the features of the car is the statement .

My car, and others I have seen, have a one piece push out at the bottom windshield.

This car is also finished with Dundee Gray Duco. Prior cars were Romany Red.

Did someone make a mistake on the brochure?

Since there were supposed to be some problems in engineering with this year of Chevrolet. Specifically they were supposed to have the New 6 Cylinder engine and it did not happen. Do you suppose they were supposed to have the VV Windshield ? Do the Coupe and Sedans have the VV Windshield.

All closed cars had the "VV".

Frankly, I think it was just a mistake in proof readings.

I read the date of 128 as Jan 28, not Dec 28. That being the case, the early '28 Cabriolet (non Conv) had a VV windshield setup , same as the Coupes and Sedans. This early version Cabriolet had a fixed type convertible top and full framed window doors. (Reference The Chevrolet Sales Data Book dated 1-28). This early 1928 vehicle was painted Dundee Gray Body color with the Body moldings painted Brocatelle Green. (Reference page 10 1928 Chevrolet Dealer Service News - Duco Color Specifications Jan 1928 to --) Both Dundee Gray and Brocatelle Green were shades of Green in an Art Deco style.

April 1928. Enter the Sport Cabriolet Convertible Body Style.
This vehicle incorporated a Swing Out Windshield (hinged at the top) which continued through the remainder of the model year. From April 1, 1928 to July 1, 1928, the Cabriolet Convertibles were painted Romany Red with Black Body Moldings. From April 1, 1928 to -- the Sport Cabriolet Convertible bodies were painted Congo Smoke with Talina Brown Body Molding color. (Reference page 44 of the Chevrolet Service News dated August 1928). Congo Smoke was a Gray color as some sales literature shows. I haven't a clue what Talina Brown looks like.

It's interesting that the 1927 Sport Cabriolet (non conv.) vehicles incorporated a Swing out Windshield. (Reference the 1927 Sales Data Book dated 4-1-27) In this literature the windshield is called - Tilting windshield. Why Chevrolet had a Swing out style windshield in the 1927 Cabriolet, changed to a VV style windshield in early 1928 Cabriolet, and then changed back to the swing out style when the Cabriolet Convertible was introduced will probably be one of those mystery events we'll never determine why.

I have a period photo of a 1929 Sport Cabriolet Convertible which has a Swing out style windshield.

Thanks for the correction on the date. That makes more sense. The other information is also valuable and will be placed in my 1928 file.
