On my 1940, For the front lights it seems to be easy, just connect to the Parking lights, On the rear lights, do you connect to the Brake light filaments or ??

For the rear a wire goes to one brake light and a wire to the stop light switch. Very simple when you see the instructions (I have them for the 1950-52 type switch).

Were there factory parking lights made with the double contacts for 40 and 41. I came across a set (41) at Hershey some 15 years ago it seems. I didn't know if they were factory or not. They sure looked nice with braided wire and slip on terminals that went to the distribution terminal where the headlight, horn, etc hook up on the inner fender skirt. (I can't remember the term for the journal right now.) I didn't buy them. Ron Wade came by my spot a little while later and he had them. He asked me if I had ever seen a pair all fixed up like that? I told him I hadn't. He seemed happy to have found them and I felt bad that I should have bought them myself. Anyway, that was the only set I've seen for sale since. I can't find them in my parts books. I had Jack (I don't recall his last name) from Iowa make me a set. It just seems to me that if Chevrolet made the turn signal unit they would had a set of double contact parking lights all made up to sell with them. Best, Charlie

The double contact socket came with the turn signal set and were not sold through the parts dept.....there were other double contact sockets (after market) available also.

Thanks PDJoe and P.K., like I said, I already have a set of park lights for the 41 Cab., but will need to make up a set for the 5-pass. I'll have to go one of the suggested parts stores and see what I can find. I've been saving a GM turn signal unit like goes on a 50 so for the 5 pass. Maybe it will work okay. Best I can determine from the excellent diagrams and help from the latest posts. I think both units will be the 5 wire hook-up. I still don't like the yellow bulb deal but one needs turn signals nowadays. Even down here, where we just began walking upright relatively recent, I don't think drivers education even teaches hand signals anymore. Thanks for your help, Charlie
