Good day all.
I am trying to come up with an excellent bow tie radiator emblem for a 32 Chev. I was planning to use a reproduction emblem. It has a screw to attach it to the radiator instead of the origional push in brass cup. The reproduction screw just snapped off as I tried to assemble it. It was epoxyed to the emblem. Not a very robust design.
Has anyone had success silver soldering on a push on brass cup on a reproduction emblem?

By the way... the fillingstation does NOT have this emblem even though its in the catalog..
Bye for now..

Hi, Steve from The Filling Station here. Our supplier for grille emblems has been out of stock for an extended period of time. The good news it that they are in the process of making another production run on all the emblems. Also, they make the emblems with a stud silver soldered to the back. They should be available again around summer of 2010. Meanwhile, we can put you on a list to be notified when they are back in stock. There is no cost until we ship the item to you. Call us at 800-841-6622 to be put on our "Wish List".

Sometimes a "modern" method of attachment makes sense. Use some double faced tape made for attaching moldings etc. Simply stick the emblem to one side of the tape, trim it to fit, and peel the backing and stick it in place. Should take you all of five minutes.Mine was done this way and has been on with no problems for nine years.

I had the same problem you had with the stud breaking off so I put epoxy back on the stud and waited for it to dry. I then installed the bowtie back on the grill with urethane like used to install windshilds in modern cars. I have had it that way all summer but just had to remove the radiator because it was leaking. I thought since I have it out I would go ahead and replace the bowtie. When I went to order one from the Filling Station they said they were out and did not expect them for some time. I called I&I and they had 7 left. I got one today and it is made the same way with the stud just glued or soldered on. I tried remove the one that I urethaned on and I can not get it to budge so I am going to leave it alone. If you want this brand new repop I have I will sell it for what I have paid for it. Let me know but if you use it I would use the urethane and not tighten the nut much at all.
