I know this is an old thread; is it possible that the information might be still available? I have a '48 Stylemaster town sedan that we've managed to get into 1st and reverse, but a friend suspects there might be something wrong in the column (possibly broken/binding) and he had to replace some of the linkage because of a problem, too. I would like to get it back to original, and suspect the vacuum shift might be part of the problem, too. Won't go into 2nd or 3rd. Thanks!
