Has anyone replaced the valve springs without removing the head? I have done it on some engines by making a pressure fitting to put in the plug hole and putting a couple psi or air to hold the spring closed and then remove and replace spring. Just wondered if anyone has done it and if so how they did it.

Air pressure will work ok.
You can also use a soft rope.
Put a lenght of rope in to the spark plug hole and turn the engine/piston upwards so the rope hit the valve.
