Hey all,

I've just purchased a 1948 fleetmaster with suicide doors and I'm finding it very hard to find some history and specs of this.

I have found no information regarding the model having suicide doors..

Any ideas??

Cheers

The Holden bodied 1948 Fleetmaster uses the prewar Holden body that was applied to many vehicles including Vauxhall, Oldsmobile, Pontiac from 1946 to 1948 when the Holden came in. The American models were then replaced with American bodies.
Your Chevrolet will have a chassis that comes from Canada. The front panels; guards and bonnet match the American but the rest is quite different. It is not simply a matter of suicide doors but includes such things as a completely different boot, doors, back window etc etc.
There are so many differences. Ask me whatever you need to know; I have actually parked a Fisher bodied car next to a Holden body and noted all the differences. Basically mechanical parts are interchangeable; the rest isn't.

Terry,

Thanks very much for the information. I've found out the same info you mentioned. I found out that it was also assembled in Woodville SA and has the holden badge on the left front door. What I am seeking is a local Australia supplier of all the window rubbers. Any ideas?

Just Google Bill Thompson Auto Rubbers, Scotts Old Auto Rubber and Spectrum rubber. They supply pretty well all that you need.Any problems , just ask.
