I am sure you will agree that we can (and probably already have) lose $ 60 of goodwill with a site with access and speed problems. Just hope that we did not lose too many when they couldn't log in or with the slow speed or constant errors. There are just too many alternatives for people today and their collective attention span and loyalty is short.

Thanks Chef-Chevy. As long as your company (or our host) don't "improve" anything, then you should have full access from now on.

Bill,

I know you plate has been full, but when you get a chance to come up for air, the links on the VCCA page are still all pointing to the old vccachat.org site. I have some html code that autoredirects to another site. you could replace the page at the old site with a link to vcca.org/fourm/ and also include the embedded auto redirect code so they would autmatically be taken to the new site. Thie would at least fix the problem of someone trying to access the site and ending up in the current loop to no where and buy you some time until you can get to all of the old links at the VCCA site. It would also let you keep the old url until you can get the search engines updated with the new site location. Just food for thougt. Let me know off line if you want to look at the code and I can send it to you. Its pretty simple and low key.

On another note, good job on a great transition. That was as smooth as silk! Thanks again for everything.

Thanks Jim.

Yep, everytime I turn around, I find another link to vccachat. (Part of that was caused by my rush to get us moved to a more stable environment.)

In case anyone is interested here's some of the things that occured as a result of the "upgrade.

1. We lost Frontpage extensions. So there may be some other things not working in the future - like page links and counters, etc. (Drop me a gentle reminder when you find them.)

2. We have stopped using https://vccachat.org for anything now. The Chat Forum which was hosted there was moved to the larger, expanded http://vcca.org site. So any links to vccahat are now invalid.

3. I will keep the name vccachat and move it to the new server. There WILL be some redirect pages left there to help out wayward users that might end up there.

4. Lastly, I am converting ALL of the web pages from Frontpage to Dreamweaver now... So I can't easily publish changes for a while. Arghhh... you might not get the Christmas red and green style this year. Sorry.

I'll try to post a sneak peek in a couple of weeks. Maybe over Thanksgiving weekend. (for non-US members, that's Nov 26th).

Thanks for your patience. (PS. Didn't something like this happen last year around this time? Arghhh... )

nou

Saturday Nov 14th. I just logged into our old site and it took almost a minute to get the page up. And I was the ONLY PERSON logged on!!!!

I guess that this proves our move was the solution!!

Sunday Nov 15th at 11 pm. I just closed the old Chat site down for the last time. Then I redirected all vccachat.org traffic to the new server location.

So it's now official. ALL of our previous data is running on the new server. Now the fun begins.

Coming Soon (early next year):
1. A new vcca web site layout.
See a sneak peek at http://vcca.org/new
2. Online access to your membership information.
3. Online capability to submit a temporary mailing address for the G&D (the snowbird special)
3. Ability to join, or renew, your account online by using a credit card. (and - this gets rid of the international exchange rate hassle for people overseas)
4. Only one login required for membership, chat and all other member services.

Can't give you exact dates, but I can tell you that ALL of the above items are in work. Some of them have already been partially tested.

Sweet dreams. manwre

I just asked her what she said about me. It got so cold in here that the furnace just kicked in!!!
Ha! snoman

Just found some more graphics (avitars) that weren't showing up. (Sorry Antique Mechanic). But I pulled the whole bunch of them into the system and now all's well. gifts

I'm so happy with the new system that I just accidentially let a little bit of pee out into my pants. Oops... I wonder if THAT'S what she was saying about me??

Jerry, I think that on an Avatar your picture has to be posted on the web (ebay, photobucket, picturetrail, etc.,) then the URL link used for the avatar. Also it should be sized down to 90x90 pixels.

I thought I have seen that "woman in red" before. I think it would be the sister of the (blackdressed) stepmother to Cinderella.

She should have had the broomstick somewhere around, not a Vette?
