Just purchased a '37 coupe....barn find with a busted driveshaft (so I'm told). I've had these out of Model As and Ts and later model Chevy pick-ups with enclosed driveshafts. What's the short version of what I should expect to get this out? Thanks.

In my 60 years of being associated with Chevrolets I have never heard of a "busted drive shaft"......what did break was the U joints or the axle shafts.

We had one on a 28 at the Southern Fall Tour in Fort Smith several years ago. No snap or noise, the car just acted like the clutch went and rolled to a stop, but as luck would have it it was on a long one way bridge.
I have had Chevrolets all my life some with hot engines one was a 261 in a 52 with a powerglide rearend and never had a problem with the torque tube driveshaft behind the 3 speed transmission. I did however replace several transmissions.

There also was a '27 on an earlier 4 cylinder tour. The break on them is on the tapered end where the pinion gear fits. It is a weakness that was solved on the early 6 cylinders.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!
