I bought some new weather strip seals and sealer from Steele while at Carlisle this fall. Started to put them on this morning. More of a job than I thought, too close on the front side. Is there any trick to this or do you have to take the doors clean off. I always fear taking the doors off because it can be a headache getting them back on just right even if you scribe where the hinges had fit. Any advice will be appreciated. Best, Charlie

Chef-Chevy, why not? The opening is real narrow on the leading edge. The old seal has to be got off and cleaned up, etc. Seems to me it would be a much better job to take the doors off but I really don't want to if I can get it done without it. Thanks for your reply, Charlie

Well, took the doors off. Put the new WX strip on. Put the doors back on. Took all day. Couldn't find my door handle clip tool. NAPA, AutoZone and Advance didn't have anything but a new kind that wouldn't do the job. Took a small spring and bent it some and filed the end down so it would hook up with the clip. Worked pretty good. If you have one of the old type clip remover, hang on to it. Left door needs a little adjusting but right one is good to go. The reason I'm sharing this is because I've come to the conclusion that if something seems simple it won't be and if something seems hard it will be. At least for me. I still love the 41 though. Thanks for the info. all of us with 1941 cars should get a link on the chat site as there is no adviser for this year. I for one did a frame off on my special deluxe so I know a little. I do have a door handle tool and a lot of the clips. chevy

There has been NO 1941 technical advisor for several years.....and its one of the most popular pre-war years.
I have tried to help here as much as I could.

Chevgene, et al. Why do we need a technical advisor when we've got you. I bought my first 41 while stationed in Alaska back in 1955. Paid $150 and when I left I sold it to another GI for $75.00. Including it, I've owned about 8 (also including the 41 5 passenger coupe and the CN I have now). I've been through them quite a bit but I'm amazed at how little I know compared to you and other 41 lovers. You guys are "top drawer". Keep up the good work. I sure find you handy on the Chat and your information is right on (Except on lubricants). Sorry Chevgene, I couldn't help myself. My next project is to replace the starter peddle bellows. Already tried to get the lip to fid to the hole. No dice. I think I'll just glue it to the transmission access cover. Best, Charlie
