A quote from the linked story....

"If we're looking for the environmental story here, we're going to be disappointed," said Jeremy Anwyl, chief executive at Edmunds.com, an analyst firm. "It might have started out from the perspective of improving the environment, but it got detoured as a way to stimulate the economy."

Seems to me that stimulating the economy can't be all bad.

The only other comment(s) I have would be considered "political" and likely not appropriate
for this forum....

Hey findoctr and hi to you Bill!

Great to have ChatII back up! Just read your posts and thought I might make comment.

I take exeption of the quote of "minimal fuel increase".

Traded in my 96 F-150 for a 09 F-150 and found this out.

The 96 and 09 were and are bare bones trucks. 96 was I-6 with stick and 09 is V-8 with auto. Both came that way from factory as standard equipment. 09 now comes standard with V-8 and auto as V-6 and sticks were discontinued as of 09. The best the 96 could get driving as I do was 12. The 09 so far has averaged close to 17 1/2. That is substantial increase. Of course, each driver gets different results, but am very happy with increase in mileage. I know that the increase will never pay for the increase in trade monies, but it's nice to spend a little less at pump when filling up.

Agree that it comes down to stimulating economy a bit, Bill, and agree that that part is not all bad. Also, no political comments need be made also.

Thanks to the both of you for your comments and take care.

Jim.

Oh well if you bought a F-150 you couldn't have been concerned about fuel economy anyway.

Hi Mr. Mack.

Naw, was more concerned about ride, comfort, looks, pulling ability, load capacity, etc., you know, the things that Chevy didn't offer. Yuk Yuk.

You are absolutely correct. We buy what we NEED and WANT. NOT what someone else tells us to buy. If a comp. can't or won't sell what is needed or wanted, then they need not be in business at all.

Ooooopppppssss!!

Sorry if my post was taken seriously! Just poking a little fun towards Mr. Mack. Hope all was taken with humor. Perhaps if I were smart enough, could figure out how to use icons posted so as not to be misunderstood.

No...I'm sorry, it wasn't meant to be serious, just playing a little tongue-n-check with the help of some smilies. I noticed some new ones on the menu.

I also keep a barrage of my own smilies for posting though it seems (at times) to get me into trouble.

jdv123, when your typing a reply, click on the smilie on the left right above your post and the icons will show up. Then click on the one you want to insert. carrot

I think I'm a fairly wise person because I'm smart enough to realise I'm not too bright.
