I need to replace the king pins on my 1933 Chevrolet. Are there any instructions on how to go about this?

Yes, the instructions should be in your 1933 Chevrolet shop manual.

On my 1936 took me two weeks plus to do. Expect to be labor intensive work. I also had to do shackles front and rear. Axel was badly worn where king pin went thru. Had to take it to a machine shop that does school bus and UPS trucks (ie. straight axel shop.)Be sure to check the plate where rear shackle attaches. I found that the rivits were loose. Had to re-do rivits. So when you start this beware it may lead to more than just king pins. Do not forget to look at the tie rod ends and drag link, too. While I was doing king pins I found that it was in very poor shape. That had to be rebuildt, too. Use the book for your repair. Be sure you use a brass rod to drive out the king pins. I had to use a three pound hammer to drive out the lock boldts on the axel. Good luck. Plenty of P. B. Blaster let soak over night. (Penetrating oil)

Thanks for your replies but I don't have a copy of the service manual. I have the repair manual but it does not say how to take the king pins out. Any further help would be appreciated.
Suggestions where I can find a copy of the service manual?

The "service" manual and the "repair" manual are one in the same. Just different terminology is used in referring to the manual. The two manuals used most often are the "owners" manual and the "repair" manual. Do you have both?

By the way, the 1932 repair manual does give instructions on how to remove the king pins so the 1933 repair manual should describe the same.

Page 128 of the 1933 Chevrolet Repair Manual has the removal procedure for king pins.

Thanks again guys. I did find the info on page 128 in the REPAIR Manual. It would be nice if there were pictures to go along with the instructions. Is there anywhere I can find pictures of this and has anyone had any experience/tips that they can offer on doing it?

If you take pictures during the process I am sure it would make a good "how I did it" article for the G&D. Then the next guy will have pictures as well as description to go by.
