If I’m saying this write not all are VCCA judged or meets. How can you tell if its a regional only or VCCA National?

Wow....that opens up the can of worms that we talked about several years ago. Anyway, a regional meet is actually a national meet which is a meet that is not hosted by the national VCCA but by a region instead. However, if a regional meet, which is actually a national meet, doesn't have judging then it is a regional meet instead of a national meet. If there is judging then the regional meet is considered a national meet even though it is hosted by a region and not the national VCCA, but in reality, it is actually an anniversary meet. The meet held once every five years that is hosted by the national VCCA is not a national meet....it is called an anniversary meet. Anniversary meets also have judging but even though the anniversary meet has judging and is hosted by the national VCCA it is not called a national meet. So, you have three types of meets; a regional meet, which is actually called a national meet when there is judging. A national meet that is hosted by a region and not the national VCCA, but has judging. And, an anniversary meet, that also has judging, but is sponsored by the national VCCA and not a region. This type of meet is confused by some to also be a national meet since it is hosted by the national VCCA and has judging. Is all of this clear?

So again how do you tell witch meet is what ? I must be missing something. When I look up the meets I see where they are but not how there hosted or Judged unless I call and ask. I see some say must be VCCA Members. Is there very few show judge by VCCA.
Now that my project is done I need to get to my regional meetings to learn more and under stand whats going on.

JYD, A Regional Meet is only a National Meet if the Judging is done using the National Judging Form and Judging Classes. Correct me, and I'm sure you will, if I am wrong.
I always think of a Meet as several days but others think of a one day show as a meet. Would it help if we had a standard list of names for the events? Car Show,One Day Show with National Judging Meet,More than one day gathering with National Judging, and could have some Tours as part of the program. Tour,Traveling with no Judging. Tour with Judging, Just what the name says.
Just a thought.

Yes, a regional meet is a national meet when there is judging and the national VCCA judging form is used. If the national juding form is not used and the judging is not sanctioned by the VCCA then the regional meet is not considered a national meet but a regional meet instead. However, if a regional meet does have judging, like people's choice or whatever, but the national judging form is not used then the meet is not a national meet even though there is judging and it would be considered a regional meet instead even though folks would think that it is a national meet. Hum...I think I have that right.....

Actually, I think JY Dog has it right.
B-U-T, I liked it better when a meet put on by a region (Like the NW Meet or the All-Cal Meet or the Middle-West Meet) was called a Regional Meet. Judging or not. It's put on (hosted) by a Region. It seems to me that should be called a 'regional' meet.
As for the only-every-five-year Nat'l Meet (apparently now called Anniv Meet), they're put on mostly by Nat'l personnel, board members, etc and it seems to me that should be called a 'national' meet.
I know things change; but sometimes the changes seem kinda dumb. At least to me. Just my two cents....
Bill.

A Regional Meet is a National Meet is confusing to say. Perhaps a better way of saying it is - a Regional Meet MAY BE a Nationally SANCTIONED Meet, which is when the national judging system is used, and national awards are earned. You must be a VCCA member to show your vehicle or have it judged at such an event. Normally, people will attend from a fairly large geographic area including from other regions.
The USA is divided into 12 Areas (each of which contains many Regions). Each of the 12 Areas may have 1 nationally sanctioned Meet each year, and typically this annual event rotates around the various Regions located inside that Area.
A Region may also choose to hold a Meet that does NOT include national judging, and therefore is NOT a nationally sanctioned Meet. This type of event may include non-Chevrolets, have "people's choice" type of judging, or whatever the sponsoring Region wants to do. Any Region can do as many of these as they want.
We also certify vehicles HPOCF(Historical Preservation of Chevrolet Features) and CDPC(Chevrolet Drivers Participation Class)
Our Anniversary Meets happen every 5 years. It is a week-long event celebrating the birth of our amazing club. It is a national Meet. Our next Anniversary Meet will be in Flint Michigan, celebrating our 50th Anniversary and Chevrolet's 100th Anniversary. I hope this makes it a little more clear for you.

Ron, Should be the third week in June. Don't know the exact dates but they might be in the Coming Events page of the G&D soon. Or check with Mary James Area 4 Board Member or Jim Amos Area 5 Board Member. Their contact information are listed in the front few pages of the G&D. I know Jim checks ChatII fairly regularly so he may comment to this post.

The last anniversary meet I attended was the tenth (1971) in Indianapolis. There was a flea market and it seemed to be a big hit.
Have the anniversary meets since then had flea markets? If, after stuffing the suggested check list items in the trunk and if there is room, I thought I might throw a few parts (sell items) in as well, if there will be one (flea market) in Flint.
Thanks, Charlie

Yes, there will be a flea market. There will be many vendors and you will see the largest collection of Chevrolet parts in one location. Bring your truck and lots of money.

The Swap Meet at the 50th VCCA Anniversary Meet in Flint will be at least all day on Monday July 18th and Tuesday July 19th, 2011 at the meet. Wednesday will be Car Judging, Thursday will be the Plaque Tour and an impromtu evening car show in downtown Flint and Friday will be the Luncheon Banquet with an Awards Ceremony to follow a couple hours after lunch. Bring lots of money for the swap meet. Often times people bring some pretty neat and rare stuff to sell.

Hello Dogcatcher: As far as HPOCF is concerned, contact your local region director or your area director. You did not include your VCCA number on your member's profile, but I assume that you are a VCCA member. HPOCF is a catagory where the VCCA certifies that your Chevy has certain areas that have not been restored and the car generally resembles what it looked like when it was originally produced.

Just a suggestion....
After you get your VCCA membership info, don't forget to update your chat profile to include your VCCA membership number. You'll also probably want to get "certified" to be able to access the members only areas.
Bill.
