It's been a long time since I've been on this site, good to be back! I wanted to get an update if anyone has, or knows of, any "trunkless" '37 Sedans, sometimes referred to as "Slantbacks" or "Coaches" (the term "Coach" actually is only correct when referring to a 2 door). I have a '37 Master Deluxe 4 door Sedan, and based on information I've seen in the past, it was the rarest US produced '37 (in a regular production body style) except for the cabriolet (around 2,200 for the Master Deluxe Sedan, around 800 for the Cab). Are there any estimates of how many cabriolets still exist? Any production totals on Sedan Deliveries? (this is a producition total I have never seen) I am just certain that there are fewer sedans around today than cabriolets (these sedans were the worst used car to have on a lot in the 30's/40's, and I bet most were scrapped in the war drives), and I am trying to come up with a reasonable estimate of just how many might still exist. In fact, mine is the only MASTER DELUXE that I have ever seen other than the blown up remains of a body on eBay a few years back (I've seen a few Masters and 2 doors, however). Anyone in the VCCA have one or know of where one is? Can I lay claim to having one of the rarest '37s in existence today? Let me know, thanks!!!!

Just ran across your post while looking for information on how to get the master cylinder off. I just purchased a MD 4dr sedan from an older member in Alabama who is in ill health. He wanted to make sure it stayed an original car, which being a 25 year vcca mamber, I assured him it will as long as I have it. It is in need of a full restoration with some rust and paint that looks like t was brushed on. I am going to try to enjoy driving it for a year or so, then start on the body work. Yes it is black.

I saw a perfectly restored '37 slantback at a local car show this past September. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera, but I believe the friend I was with did and he may have a pic of it. He's on his way to Florida, so once he gets there, I'll contact him to see if he's got one or not. I had never seen nor heard of the car before, but I'll more than likely see it at that same show next year.
The car had an AACA Grand National plate on it and was a real "Black Beauty". I loved how the rear seat swung up to access what little storeage space there was.

Bob: The car you saw was probably the same one that was at the Central Meet in Elmira. It belongs to a member, also from New York.I would have to go over my pictures to see if my wife took one, but I believe it to be a Master 2dr. I agree with you, it is sharp!

Yes, you're right, Now that I think of it, I believe it was a Master 2-door.

I remember back when 1937's were still common the trunkless body style you would see most often was the Master 2 door. Once in a great whiles a 1938 Master 2 door but seldom any of the 4 doors and never a Master Deluxe or a 1939

A member in Oregon has a prize winning '37 Master 4 door trunkless sedan. He won best '37 at the 50th Anniversary of Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge in '87. The lodge was dedicated by FDR on its completion in '37. There was a massive tour in '87 by many car clubs including ours. The organizers were also the judges who selected the winning '37 and they are well qualified to select the best - each having extensive car collections.
