I need to replace the glass in my 38 coupe. From your experience, is SoffSeal, Steele or other brand beter than the other?
The guy I contacted to install my glass, said some fit better than others, but could not give me a recommended brand. I was trying to locate one he would be satisfied in using.
I have the vent steel backed verticle weatherstrips and need to also buy the other piece for the glass. Every where I look, they list both pieces together. Does anyone know where these can be bought seperately?
Finally, should I install the headliner before undertaking the glass installation? Thanks for any suggestions

I sure could use someone's opinion on what brand of weatherstrip/gasket to use for my windshield.

All the rubber on my truck and in my truck is Steele. Never have had a problem with any of it and some of it is 25 years old.

I didn't notice any advantage that would have been gained by waiting to install the glass after the headliner is installed. The glass is hard to install so I would install it first. Gives you more room to "fight" the glass in place. I thought the headliner was much easier than the glass to install.
I used some rubber from Steele and other rubber and remaining parts from Restoration Specialties. I refabbed the channels for the rubber window lower guides. The channels attached to the inside of the door.

I bought all of the rubber for my 38 coupe from Chevs of the 40s. Some of it was OK and some was junk. The junk pieces I re purchased from Steele and was satisfied. The back glass rubber from Chevs was about 8" too long and was already bonded. We shortened and rebonded it then discovered it was made for thinner glass and didn't fit at all. It wasn't an issue of the glass being wrong because I reused all of my original glass (except for the windshield which got broken taking it out). The replacement rubber from Steele was a good fit. The vent window seals from Chevs were each an inch too short. The replacements from Steele were a bit too long but it's easier to cut extra off than to make it longer. Chevs didn't provide enough of the fuzzy window channel for the doors. The body shop had some extra from another project so that worked out OK. To make a long story longer you'll probably need product from different sources to get a good fit everywhere.
