anyone have a source for the correct lifter for the 235 eng ? Last one I got didn't have the oil hole in the psh rod seat and I think it caused a broken rocker.

I see no reason that the lifter would have caused the rocker arm to break. The hole in the push rod seat of the lifter was there to allow the air to escape from the lifter. Somes years had the hole and some did not. If the lifter was quite and the engine has a smooth idle it for sure was not the fault of the lifter. If the broken rocker arm was for an intake valve my hunch would be that the valve stuck in the valve guide. The 1954-58 rocker arms were made much stronger and were the replacement for the 1950-53 235 engines.

It depends on which hydraulic lifter is correct for your engine. What engine do you need them for, a 235 for ? Do you have a good part number? I find them ocassionally on eBay. I agree with Gene, more than likely the lifter didn't contribute to the failure of the rocker arm.

I picked up some of the original lifters (on Ebay) to keep as spares for my 1950. If you really think you need one I guess I could part with one, In 1953 the lifter has three oil feed holes on the side and no hole in the seat. As years went by this version was discintinued and the 1950-52 was sold as the replacement for the 1953.....go figure.
