I am new here and just found this forum. Lots of good info here. I have a few questions but first I will tell you guys about the car I have.

My father passed away in the spring and I have now taken over the restoration of his 1927 chevrolet touring. He bought the car 38 years ago when I was 4 years old. I remember taking a ride in it prior to the disassembly. Someone had converted it into a truck. Over the years he collected all of the parts neccessary to restore it plus a ton of spare parts.

Over the years it was an on and off project. As I was growing up I helped him clean parts, rebuild the engine, sand the body panels etc. A few years ago I had the rad housing rechromed fro a christmas gift. Last summer he finally got it running and took it for a drive around the farmyard. He restored the entire frame, driveline, wheels etc. He handbuilt all the wood for the body, made spokes on his lathe, etc. Whats left for me to do is body and paint, and the interior and top. I will post some pictures later. I won't get to start on the project till next winter as I have to finsh my current paint and body project ( a 340 duster). Anyhow I have a few questions:

1) what is the difference between a superior and a capital? And what does the AA mean?
2) Does anyone have a picture of the assembly that supports top bows in the down position? It is located right at the back of the rear body tub.
3) Who makes needle and seat assemblies for the carburetor. I believe it is a carter rxo
Thanks for any input

340 Duster the difference between a Superior and a Capitol are a series of refinements. The '26 & '27 have a lot in common. Engine, body, wheel base etc. The '27 AA was the start of a new kind of ID for Chevy. 27=AA, 28=AB, 29=AC, 30=AD 31=AE and so on.
Gary Wallace has the needle & seat.

There are others on this site who will be able to answer many of your questions.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

I have no idea what is correct for any year but Gregs24 sent me some pics and I posted them some time back. Hopefully the link will work.

[quote=SSG26K]340 Duster the difference between a Superior and a Capitol are a series of refinements.

So does this mean the superior is a lower level of "trim" than the capital? So would I have a 27 capital AA? Or how would I identify what it is.

Thanks for the carb info that helps me alot. I do have a bunch of RXO carbs and parts, but none with good needle and seats. There is a carb off of something else on it now (but it works) I'd like to get the original carb working.

Thanks, that at least gives me an idea of what they look like. I do have some big iron bracket things, but they might be off a buggy or another type of car.

PS thanks for the help everyone

"So would I have a 27 capital AA? Or how would I identify what it is."

340Duster: Post all the numbers you can find on the side of your engine & top of your cylinder head. Also check for ID tag on passenger side of front seat & maybe a job # tag on the firewall. Someone on this site will be able to explain them to you.
Here's a good site with lots of information on Chevy production. Good Luck.
