OP 1929_Chevy Shade Tree Mechanic Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 82 Minnesota	With the oil pan off and looking up into the top . There is a drilled hole just above the Front main bearing.It looks like it has a bunch of compacted oil.Is this hole for the front fan bearing?

germanchevy Backyard Mechanic Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 446 Germany, Bad Reichenhall	I guess it might have to do with lubrication of the timing gears and camshaft. I did read about that anywhere a time ago but cannot remember when and where. I just remember it was an advice how and where to drill an additional hole between timing gear housing and inner engine block for better lubrication of the timing gears.
