Thats true, but it was not tinted glass. The Libby-Owens -Ford safety plate glass used by Chevrolet back then had a slight green tint. Also the edges were black.

Bruce,

When I replaced the windshilds in my '41 Cadillac coupe 10-ish years ago at a "Speedy Glass" type shop, they offered me 3 choices. Green, Blue, Clear. I chose Blue. Looked great with the black paint.

I don't know if it was 'tinted' or just sort of colored glass. Sorry to not be much help. All I know for sure is they did have "colored" glass.....

Bill.

Bill I'm having the glass replaced and wanted to make sure that the sight green tint was semi correct...The guy has the glass...Finally taking the leap and finishing the car, interior etc.
Does any one know where one would locate patterns for cutting and sewing the interior on the 48 If I could get a hold of that Hampton Coach would be out of the picture

About the interior: I don't know how good you are with a sewing machine, or what is left of the old interior, but I just completed all the interior for my '46, and used the old fabrics for patterns. I have extensive pictures of each of the parts before I started, in progress and finished pics. I could put them all on disks for you, if you think they are closes enough to your model. I think I spent about $500 for all the materials. I used a sail making machine with a top and bottom tractor foot from Sailrite in Indiana. It was cheaper and portable, compared to the available upholstery machines costing about 3 times as much. I think I still have some papers and pattern for the headliner and some parts. If you do it yourself, I'm also open to discussion on where I deviated from the Fisher Body procedures. For example, valcro will save you a world of hurt on the door panels over their nails in sheet metal, without changing the finished look.

Thanks
