Hello Everyone,
This is my first posting to the forum; I just acquired a 1930 3W Std Coupe that I plan to restore from the frame up. The previous owner had taken it down to the chassis but it is all there except for the wood and a few bits and pieces. Original running gear is in tact. :-)
To keep the roof original I need to find the tack strips and trim for the opening. Any ideas ?
Who are the reputable wood kit suppliers ? I want to do it right the first time so I am looking for good quality, fit and finish for the body and roof kit.
Does anyone have pictures or drawings for the wood body ? I am starting from scratch here and wasn't fortunate enough to disassemble the car myself to see how it all goes together.
Drawings, sketches, pictures of any kind would be wonderful.
Sorry for all the questions, I'm a bit excited to get started... :-)
BTW - Have you seen the '29 3W Coupe on eBay ? Had I not purchased the '30 I may have jumped on this one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Craig

Hi Craig and welcome to the best Chevy chat site around. I am not sure how different your 30 is compared to my 31. I redid all the wood in mine. I bought my kit from Denis Rodman in Hana, In. If you go to Bill Barkers 31 site there are pictures of my coupe wood. Go to the VCCA home page and scroll down to favorite links. Then look for Bill's 31 site. He has a lot of infrormation on that site. Good luck with your project. :vcca:

Actually, it's James Rodman from Auto Wood Restoration in Hanna, Indiana. Jim makes high quality wood kits and you can't go wrong. Up until a year or so ago the roof crown mouldings were being reproduced, but I understand that they are no longer available.

Yes Skip you are right. I knew that when I put that in there that it didn't quite sound right. :( :vcca:

Thanks everyone for your comments and advice...
I have looked at the Auto Wood Restoration and Filling Station sites, I'll be contacting them as I get started, the manuals will also come in handy.
Sal Thanks for the link to Bill's site, its amazing how much information is there and awesome pics of the '31. The pics of the wood on the 5W Coupe really help.
I appreciate all the assistance; this will definitely get me started. Craig

JY-D, you indicate the roof crown mouldings for his car are no longer in production. How about those for a '31 Coach. I will need a set of them soon? If not available, are people using some reasonable alternative?

this is the molding that used to be available. I guess I was luck to get my order in before the supply disappeared. ![[Linked Image from i244.photobucket.com]](http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg3/denafer/030509002.jpg)

It sure would be nice if someone would have another set of dies made to produce the molding. They were apparently lost or destroyed by the company that produced the moldings for Bob's Automobilia.
