Steve from The Filling Station here with some very sad news for the Chevy restoration community. Jim Mc Conville, the manufacturer of top quality running board mats and floor mats for early Chevs, has passed away. He died of an apparent heart attack.
For thirty years or more, Jim made fine quality reproductions to help us restore our old Chevys. Many of you might not know of him because he sold most of his mats through dealers like me. He was a long time VCCA member and all around nice guy. Always concerned about quality, he made some of the nicest reproductions to be found anywhere.
Those of us that knew him will certainly miss him. Those of us that have restored an old Chevy with his rubber mats, owe him a big debt of gratitude. He leaves a big void in our hobby.

Any word to whether or not his family wil continue the family tradition in the future. I know a couple guys who bought his product and were very pleased. Thoughts go out to the family...

I've known Jim for 30 years and he was one of the best old car dudes in the hobby. He had high quality stuff and he was an all around great guy too!! There will definitely be a large void in the hobby without him!!! :( :( :(

Not sure if the family will continue the business at this time. If I hear anything definite, I will post an update.
