My 1924 Chevy Superior has been out of service all summer for one reason or another. I finally thought I had everything ready to go for my favorite show next Saturday and the Generator quits. I have a good shop here that can fix it, but on a holiday week not much chance I can get it in fixed and back on the car in 4 days.

So, the show is 8 miles away, with stoplights and registration it would take an hour run time max to get there and back. If I leave with a full charge will the battery run the car that long???

Haven't missed this show in years, I guess its just not in the cards for me to be there this year.

Thanks,

Bruce

Bruce,

As long as you did not use the headlights I don't think it would be a problem. Once at the show disconnect the negative battery cable just in case there is a draw on the battery. If the battery did not have enough juice to crank over the engine (when leaving the show), it will have enough juice to keep the engine running so you could just hand crank it.

Good Luck,
Gary

Should not be a problem. Just don't start is too many times and all will be great. Will run a couple of days on a good battery charge. If battery gets low just push to start or crank it.

Back in my teens I once drove a 51 or 52 Chevy for 3-4 days with the generator not working. It would have gone longer but I got more stupid than I already was and turned on the headlights. After that I drove about 10 miles before it quit.

What does that sign say behind your car in that link? Does it say Speed limit 18mph?

Yes. When the truck delivered the car from MA, I picked it up at work. For some reason the folks in building services think 18MPH is a good speed limit. I like it because I double it regularly in my Crossfire and have trippled (okay quadroopled it) on occasion!!

Made it to the car show in fine fashion and had a great time. I will have to study up as I got many, many questions I could not answer about Chevy's. I don't have a winner, but the 24 surely generates a ton of interest!!

Thanks,

Bruce
