Hello to All, I'm having a really hard time getting my split
rims back together. Yes I do have a rim splitter and I've even tried a jack with some 2x4's. I had cut the 2x4's with
a radius that matched to inner diameter of the wheel. Still
no luck. I must say my tires are old wards riverside that
came off a T F#rd. The rims are original to the car and are
lugless. Question: will lugged rims from a T F#rd fit the
Wheels on a 28? My wheels are artillery type wood spoke. I've
noticed my 30X 3.5 clinchers from my 490 touring will interchange with those of a T F#rd. Thanks, Dex.

The tires should have straight sides where they contact the rim. Next they need to be a full 21" inside diameter. And the rims need to be straight and not bent or twisted. Do the rims go back together easily without the tires? If so then the tires might be the problem.

Each brand of tires is a bit different. Some fit the rims correctly and others are a "bearcat" to get mounted. Don't have experience with the Wards on Chevy rims so can't help much more.

Actually I've had those wards on there before. My rims are not in the best of shape and I've learned that you CAN ruin
your rim if you stretch it too much. I'd rather mount tires
on clinchers than these things. Dex VCCA# 039494 Thanks
for the reply Chipper.
