OK, I've been a Nomad fan since I was about 15 years old back in the late 60's. I've owned 3. I was a National Nomad Member for 10 years (#998). I've studied Nomad history. Back in the 70's I learned that the '54 Corvette "Waldorf" Nomad was a 1 only car and that car was destroyed by GM in 1958. Now I was showing a little history of that car on another site and used these two links.

http://www.corvettes.nl/prototypes/page11/page11.html

http://www.54classicchevy.com/1954-chevrolet-nomad.html

Both of those links show this line:

"General Motors produced 5 of the 1954 Chevy Nomads for the auto show circuit, only 3 are known to exist".

Huh?

Did they find some long lost cars while I was sleeping one night?

Which is correct?

Bill

If you get Hemmings Classic Car Magazine, there was a bit about that several issues ago. Then there was the TUCKER Convertable, which is only 15 minutes away from me, we all seem to think that one is a BS car, though.

I thought the prototype body of a nomad (corvette) was originally supposed to be a Buick. idea

Bill,
I don't know too much about the early show circuit so I'm seeing that Corvair for the very first time. It looks to me like the design could have been the concept for Corvette Coupe.
The Nomad is very cool looking and a neat concept but Chevrolet probably pushed for the Coupe. However it still took another nine years to bring it into production.
Very interesting links. Thanks!
