From some info that I have- It is noted that the Army Tank Automotive Command had recently placed an order for 23,000 diesel powered Blazers. Fender badges I.D the trucks as being the K-5 series. This is from 1984

This vehicle was aquired by the National ParK Service from the Army, it needs trany work so they are going to scrap it. He said it is solid and is in unrestored condition. I thought it would be a great truck to get running and a real conversation at Flint. It is wearing the camo paint and has all the brackets for what ever all over the vehicle. Think about the tow vehicle that would make John

our company bought several of the 3/4 ton fulltime 4x4 suburbans with the 6.2 diesels. (dumb stunt!) when the engines went out we had them converted to 350 and 454 gas engines. replacement engines became scarce, because so many of them went bad with cowboying drivers and many miles on the Interstates rather than dirt roads.

The 6.2 diesel wasn't the worst engine but did have some problems. It was wonderful compared to the 5.7.

There are referered to as CUCV vehicles or the M1009. There a lots of them out there on Goverment Surplus web sights. Also for parts try www.boyceequipment.com you have to call for most stuff and availabilty they have just about everything. Google search M1009 CUCV and you'll find lots of info. Have fun they are neat vehicles!

I'd much rather see your 62 in Flint. Maybe tow it with the Blazer?????
