This is beautiful! I am interested in the interior color. I thought that all interiors were painted black? (Dash etc)

Great to see it with black wall tires, and I love the wheel color. Is this Aurora red or Mohawk red? I would be interested in learning more from the owner about the modern equivalent for this red. Thanks,

Roger

'32 open cars usually have instrument panels painted the same color as the body panels.

Some colors on closed cars offered painted dash inserts.

Some feel white walls are preferred in 'all' instances.

Others feel white walls are appropriate only when they were 'standard' (or at least 'optional') when the vehicle was 'new.'

It's basically a case of personal preference. In other words, whatever is preferred by the owner.

Bill.

Whitewalls on a early 30s Chevys makes me think of a "blue hair" with bright rosie cheeks. A vintage model with an attempt to give a modern look. Looks totally out of place.

I don't have much of an opionion one way or the other about white walls on early 30's Chevys.

But, what I was trying to say above is "personal preference" is what a lot of this is all about.

Chipper would obviously vote "no" for ww's on early Chevys!!

Chipper, just curious now, (no bone to pick) what would be the first year Chevy that you 'like' white walls?????

Imfalco,You asked about Aurora red wheel color,I had the local PPG store check the company archives and they gave DAR 72718T bright red as a match its modern match is Toyota oem no.3E6.This is also very near perfect match for one shot enamel 104-L bright red.
Anyone know of a better match? It looks real good on my wheels with BF Goodrich white walls [more personal taste] and the Duco 44 black body.

Well, I reckon old Chipper would turn thumbs down on curb feelers and bubble skirts on anything older than a 32?

The paint is "chinese red" and I didn't have a colour chart only an old colour photo. Sorry but you won't find it any more it was purchased about 11 years ago when I started this. Thanks for your kind words and your help over the last year. This is a clone of a car that can be seen in a book called "Chevrolet The coming of Age by Ray Miller" The original was owned by a Mr. Harold Pellini, Sabastopol , California. It may still be there. You have help put the the icing on the cake. Thanks to BIGBOB for your assistance with the pictures.

Woody, Thanks for the info on Aurora red. My '31 Cabriolet was originally black with Aurora red and I've decided to stick with it. Could you post a photo of your car? I'll be mounting blackwalls and since my car came with a rear mounted spare, I'll be keeping it that way too. I'm also going with one tail light and single bar bumpers. Haven't decided on the top color.

Just one beautiful car...you should be very proud.

How about an "after" pic of the rear too.

The use of whitewalls in the 50s or later is appropriate. 40s is questionable in my mind. After cleaning whitewalls for decades and trying to keep them looking nice (went through barrels of Wesley's) I don't use the wide ones on anything. Have some white letters on the Red & White '72 Chevelle Convt. that look really sharp and so am willing to try to keep them nice.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my 'just curious' question Chipper. I sure can relate to your time spent and "barrels of Wesley's" to keep the (wide) whitewalls looking good comment.

Personally, I don't like the narrow white walls on much of anything. Even the 60's and 70's cars they 'came' on. In those years I pretty much go for rally wheels and black walls 'out.'

Unlike yourself, I really do like wide whites on most 40's cars.

Oh well.... I guess that's what makes the world go 'round!

Say, back to the original pix of this gorgeous '32 coupe posted by Big Bob. It really is a beauty, isn't it?!?!?!?

Question: is the 'side mount' on the driver's side an 'option' - or - did they all come that way??

Also, Q #2: could you get another 'side mount' on the passenger side?? Or what was that 'neat look' reserved just for the high dollar cars like Buicks and Caddys??

Thanks to whomever knows.......

Bill.

It has sidemounts on both sides.

Check out the 6th post down and the bottom right pic.

I either need to pay more attention or get my glasses checked, or both.

Thanks for pointing out the picture that shows a sidemount on BOTH sides.

Now, how about the questions I posed.

Do all 32's have a sidemount on the driver's side?? Or just some models of the '32??

And what about the passenger side.... do all 32's have one on that side also??

Or is the passenger side an "option?"

Really "just curious."

Thanks.

Bill.
