So we had to pull the generator to figure out what was wrong with the oil pump. Never thought much about the Distributor sitting up there!! I guess we just put #1 on TDC, stick the generator on with the distributor close to #! firing and then pull the Distribor up for final adjustment and then clamp it back down. Is that correct??
Thanks,
Bruce

With the number one cylinder ready to fire, place the generator on the back of the generator with the top clips oriented where you can open and close them. Place the rotor on the top of the distributor. With the distributor ready to fire number one, make the rotor point to approximately 1:00 O'clock. Make sure the arm is approximately parallel with the engine. Loosen the cam on the distributor and move until the points are open. Tighten the rub block. Start the engine and adjust the distributor for maximum speed. Stop the engine and readjust the rub block until the points just start to open. Assemble, start engine and adjust the spark lever where it will connect to the distributor arm. This position will be full advance, move the arm to meet the rod at the point the spark rod is completely retarded on the spark lever. This is the position you will start the engine. After it is started move the lever to fully advanced.
