Hi,
Will a carter w1 from a 235 run on a 216?If not how can you tell the difference?

The only 235's that used a Carter W-1 were the very large truck 235 engines from 1941-1949. This was the same W-1 that was used on the 216 for those years.
The Rochester was new for 1950 and W-1 no longer used.
The 216 Rochester was smaller than a 235 Rochester and they will not interchange.
The 216 Rochester will fit all 1949 and prior engines.
The W-1 will not fit a 1950 and up 235 engine.
