Two flat pieces of metal fell to the floor while removing the engine from my 1928. Each is three and three quarters inches long by one and one quarter wide. The metal in the center is cut out leaving the piece in the shape of a U. The material that is cut out is about nine sixteenths by three and one half. Where do these go, on the motor mount, perhaps?

There is a crossmember between the transmission (gearbox) and the flywheel. It bolts on to brackets on either side that come out from the frame (chassis). These two wedges slip down between the crossmember and the brackets. It enables you to put the engine/transmission back into place and have some clearance. Then you slip the wedges down and tighten it all up. Hope that this makes sense.

I was in that same situation the other day. It dawned upon me
at the last minute what they were for. Well Terry, I'm a have to
pull the transmission again to get that top hat(throwout bearing
bushing) sorted out. Figured I'd run the car since I've got the
motor together, but I can't get it to fire(ignition) got power
to the coil but that's it. BTW, I can run the car with the tophat amiss if I partially depress the clutch with a rod. Dex
