Good to hear that ya'll will be there. We are leaving at 12:30 on the 21st with a group from our region and making a tour on our way there. We will stop in Jamestown NY which is only a 4 1/2 hour drive. Then we will finish the remaining 2 1/2 hours after visiting the Lusy Desi museum in the morning.
Since most of us can't find the time to do a long tour AND a meet we are going to do it at once. I'm lookimg forward to traveling with a small group.
I am driving the '72 Nova. The kids like the comfort of the truck and trailer but I told them that if we trailer a car, it would be the '23.
Take Care, and hope you all have safe driving!

Well, we are here at the Central Meet. Our ears have finally stopped ringing from the flowmaster muffler and 3.73:1 rear gears. My wife and kids did well considering that they wanted to drive the truck and have air conditioning. It was great to see all of our friends again. We also made some new friends at dinner tonight, and I look forward to meeting more. I love these meets and I love to talk cars.

OK... We just had a ton o' fun at the Chemung Speedrome. It's a 1/3 mile asphalt oval rack. They let us drive around the track with the vintage cars.. and the newer ones that were on the tour. I had some fun with the Nova, but I really had fun driving Dad's Corvette on the track. So did Dad. We gave rides to a number of people. I was able to hit 75 mph in the straightaways before hitting the brakes for the corners. I am definately not a smooth driver on the track. But it was fun!

The show was great today!
Mother Nature was nice enough to hold off the rain while the vehicles were on display.
Some fantastic Chevrolets to see and enjoy and their owners are pretty darn nice too!

I would say approx. 80 on the show field.
A 1925 pickup that was flat out incredible.... I wish I could have taken it home.

This was Finger Lakes Region first attempt to host a Central Meet. It was amazing to see them succeed with such success. It was at least equal to other Central Meets. I believe that the meet was enjoyed by all. As in many cases, someones car needs a little attention. This meet was no different. The good news is that repairs were made and in true VCCA fashion, our membership pitched in to resolve the difficulties. For those of you who were unable to attend, you missed a great meet. It is never too early to sign up for next years Central Meet. The host hotel in Nashville, Indiana is already accepting reservations for July 18th-21st, 2010. I hope to see all of you there. dtm ps. Thanks Chris for the ride in the Vette. It was great!

I think Ollie ment to say "a 1935 pickup", not 1925. I don't recall seeing any vehicle older than 1928 on the judging field. But I do agree with him, it was a very nice truck.

I really had a good time and enjoyed meeting new friends and being able to faces to names. I did have a bit of a misshap on the way home. Some road debris must have kicked up and did some damage on my 62 Biscayne's left rear quarter. I did not think it was much but the guy who painted it said it was about $2,000 worth of damage! I know that the judges were going back and forth between Ollie's Nova and my Biscayne for the Best of Show Eight Cylinder Era, I did win it but I think Ollies car was there also. Later, John PS next time out I will have a closed box!

I can not name names because it would be insulting to miss someone. I just wanted to again thank all of the friends who helped with diagnosis and repair of my brake problem on Saturday. This group of people are just fantastic. A tow back to the hotel was arranged, and repair parts purchased and waiting in an astonishingly short time. The ol' girl soldiered on home without a hitch on Sunday. I hate having a break down and even more dislike being a center of attention(ask any Lower Mi Region member). The Central Meet this year was very well organized and a pleasure to attend. It was great to see old friends from the other regions. Those who could not attend were missed. I do want to thank Jackie Hubbard for encouraging Pam and me to attend, when work obligations appeared to get in the way. Her encouragement helped us re-evaluate my work situation and find a way to attend. GM

For you guys that haven't attended a "regional" meet (I guess now technically called nat'l meets) like Central or NW or an All-Cal, etc. etc. these recent posts should be a GREAT motivater for you to do so.
I've been to at least a couple dozen meets over the years and ALWAYS have a great time. These meets are really where "it" all comes together. Tire kicking, visiting, meeting NEW and visiting with long time (don't say "old" around me) friends, tours, etc. etc.
I don't mean to sound like a PR guy, but get to a meet. I'm betting you'll really be glad you did!!!!!
Bill.

Hi Oldie, OOPS!! Sorry about that - I meant 1935. I loved that truck so much - its now my screensaver on my laptop and cell phone!.... John -sorry to read about the road debris! At least it happened "after the Best in Show"! One thing I would like to mention. Daniel Cupr This young man was a breath of fresh air, and if we had more future American's like Daniel - we would have nothing to worry about and the future of this country we live in. I would like to state that Mr and Mrs Chris Cupr should be commended for bringing up a child in today's difficult times with the excellence I saw in young Daniel. I wish I were their neighbor - because watching him grow up will be a life event with many rewards. Kudos to the Cupr's! :)

Wow Ollie. That's a big pair of shoes to fill, but I am very proud of both of my children.
One of the enjoyable parts of the meet was having the kids choose their favorite vehicle. After each child (there were only 5 present at this years meet) choose their favorite car they filled out a form and presented it to the owner explaining why they choose that vehicle. It's always neat to see things from a childs perspective!
I think I will start a seperate post about the chld's choice certificaes. Both the kids and the owners really enjoyed them.
Thanks again Ollie!
Chris

And young Daniel was a runner during judging. It was great to watch all of us "old men" become jealous of the enthusiam and youthful energy that Danial brought to our judging team. Thanks Daniel. See you next year.

Hi Chris,
Glad you read my post! :)
I was just talking about young Daniel again to an old college friend today. I am so impressed with him - I just can't put that into words. The Award was special and I framed it and hung it on the shop wall. A few friends thought it was very special and adds to the car's personality.
Hope that Cosworth '23 project is gaining some momentum!
