Hi Bob!

I've seen that picture somewhere before.
Looks great.
No word from HC. I let you know when I take delivery.

The Fisher body tag is on the driver's side in this photo. My '32 has the tag on the passenger side. Which side is correct or are they both right?

There were tags on each side of this car that looked original so that's how I restored it. I can't gurantee that's the way it's suppose to be.

There was only one "Body By Fisher" plate used and it was on the lower bottom front of the passenger side cowl. And, the plate used for 1932 was a one year only plate. laugh laugh laugh

If I do some touch up or repaint I'll do away with the extra tag on the drivers side. I'm trying to keep it as authentic as possible, thanks for the info.

Tag, schmag, you are right!

Some things are important to some people while other things are not. There are some aspects about my restoration project that are of little consequence to me. However, others may be mortified to see that I used hex nuts instead of square nut in instances where I have replaced hardware. I respect that.

What I respect more is the preservation of what is correct information. This forum is an ideal vehicle for that. Should someone happen to ask for clarification about something that might appear to be out of place, we all benefit from the dialogue that takes place.

If we choose to use hex nuts or retain an additional cowl tag is a matter of indiviual choice. Armed with the right information at least we can make that choice.

Thanks,

Mike

Believe that the tan '32 Coupe has recently been seen in Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma. Opps, yes Texas too.

Didn't mean to deminish preservation. Just wanted to say what a beautiful car it is. I'm prserving mine and enjoy it all the time, even though there are things that can be criticised. Heck, with the help of JYD I'm trying to determins if it is a 31 or 32 and if it was manufactured in the US or Canada. Seems that some where along its 70 some odd years the tags got lost. The only one I've foubd is the Body by Fisher and that has no information on it. The original cars are rolling art and we should all have fun and be pruod we don't suffer from Coddington Sybdrome. Sorry, if I offebded abyone.

Bingo Bill;
Your car is not the only one to loose it's I.D. plate.
The tag was nailed to the floor board and most of them fell off thru the years.
A lot of us bought the car with only the engine number on the Title.
I changed mine over thru DMV (a nightmare of red tape) but finally I have a real VIN (crushed car)to use. I have yet to stamp it on my new tag.

RGWiz, good to hear from you. At least I'm not the only guy who has faced this problem. Guys, I was at a meet today in Fanwood where I spoke to a guy who had a 31 at the show. I saw where his ID. plate was om the firewall. He told me that sometimes the numbers are burnt into the floor wood. Well, I came home and once again took out the carpet and looked at every square inch of the floor, cowl, silland firewall. Giess what? without thinking. Okay times up your right, no tags anywhere on this car. I'm going to write to the previous owner and see if he can shed some light on this. I'll keep you posted. Once again, thanks for all the help.

No offence taken... :-)

I must have a touch of the Chevy fever.

My Landau fever will Phaeton over time.

(your '32 photo is impressive to say the least!)

Good, I took a trip to Haiifax in June. Drove up from New Jersey. I can't believe the space you guys have to play in. Made me feel like a sardine when I came home. Happy Motoring. Bill
