After 3 or 4 months of paperwork etc. its here. 1939 Chevrolet convertible. Just as described by the seller. This was the last one needed to finish the collection of every year convertible Chevrolet from the beginning to 1975.
I'll get to work on the repaint and the new top and in a few months it can go into the museum with the rest of the cars. [Linked Image from i118.photobucket.com]

Thanks to John for helping, actually taking care of all the export and packing chores. Shipping across the big pond can be somewhat intimidating for us first timers. Andy.

Andy
By the photos there isnt much that needs doing. It looks like it came from my part of the world with the steering wheel on the RIGHT side of the car.

It is a roadster as it does not have wind up windows(it has button on side curtains), and was called a business or commercial roadster By GM Holdens, having the large hinged trunk.

They where also made in sports roadster with the dicky /rumble
seat by GM Holdens and were available on I beam front suspension only.

I'm sure you're aware that Chevrolet did not build a convertible for the US market in 1939. Does your '39 have any Fisher Body markings on it anywhere?

Andy's car is a HOLDEN body and was restored about 25 years ago in Taree, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA.

It won the 1939 section at the VVCAA 25th Anniversary Rally(1992)at Cowra.NSW

The car came back down to Sydney about 15 years ago.

It has the oval chrome and black enamel holden badge fitted to the left hand side lower cowl.

Jack. How many roadsters left in Australia? Less than a dozen?
