Ordinarily I would think by the numbers this might be a 28 because of the casting date. But it only has one exhaust port.Head Numbers:

H28

346709

These numbers were emailed to me from a complete engine. I see that it is a block number. He said it was a head number. Even though it is a block number that date of H28 makes no sense. The block pictures that I have show no breather tube hole in the block for the carb. and the are no mounting holes for the engine side covers like on a 28.

Xcode28truck: Look again. If the 8 is really a 6 then it would be a casting date of August 2,1926 which would be the start of the early 1927's. Or there is another 6 or 7 following the H28.

I won't be able to see it first hand until Wednesday. I am buying a spare engine and transmission for my 28. The engine in question is another one that is there also. I can buy it for an additional $150 bucks. I have pictures of it and it is definately not 28. Open valves and pushrods. No cover plates on the side and single exhaust. No carb or starter on this motor.

I understand that. That's what didn't make sense. See above post of mine.

Ok I got more info on the motor. engine number 2704502. Which would make it a 27 engine. I purchased a 28 engine and transmission but don't have the numbers from it. The 28 engine I purchased is out of a Light Delivery chassis. Another guy bought it first and is selling me the engine and transmission. He is going to make a Hot Rod out of it. I wish I would have bought it before he got it. It is whats left of a York Bodied pickup, exactly like the one I have now. I hope when I get there it is an "X prefix" engine like the one I have now that came in my truck. But oh well, win some lose some.
