Hi, Ebay has some NOS front shocks for sale. I think new rebuilt ones come at a price of about $250 each from Apple with a one year warranty. What do you think of buying this old of stock? I would hate to spend any money on a set that might leak. So much work goes into the installation to run the risk of leaks??? Thanks, Mike

I have been watching the 2 ebay auctions also. There are no guarantees that NOS 60 year old shock absorbers will not leak. I put NOS front shocks on my 1940 15 years ago and not one drop of oil leaking out yet...................

My '39 has the original front shocks, still "dry" after 87,000 miles. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a pair of new shocks. The new shocks can be identified because the outter 3 inches of the upper arm was not painted.

If I were looking I may buy the ones on ebay but would weigh the cost to send in my old ones to get rebuilt. { I had all 4 of mine rebuilt about three years ago from apple} I guess it would depend on the money you want to spend
