I am working on a 1933 Chevy 1.5 ton truck and was thinking of plating the grill and lights. Anybody know of a good company and a ball park figure on how much it would cost. Thanks

I don't have a company that I would recommend as all I have used recently have done good and poor work. I did have one company in Tucson that redid some pieces so was eventually satisfied but because of the need to redo won't recommend them. I believe if they are local and understand what you want and expect they will do a better job. I would expect $500-$750 for those items.

Yes, Royal Plating. I was told that the owner was away and so did not look over the shipment prior to going out. The redid the problem parts but the hood latches were shipped with moisture still in them so rusted the springs inside. Like all platers I have ever dealt with they are inconsistent but mostly good. I have my good days and bad so sorta understand but try my best to not let bad stuff out the door. It causes bad relations.

I'm sorry you had problems with them. Like you say. It's not their normal. I think I recommend them to you if I'm not mistaken. I'm not to the point of chrome, but I will use them at that time. The difference is I'm here. I hope Ray took care of the problem. He does have or has had a good rep....Joe

Ray did what he could. Guess his son does not have the same dedication as his dad. I would not hesitate to use them again if I could pick up the parts in person.

After having problems with other local chromers.... I started using Royal years ago & I have had good experiences with them.... I did notice that you need to be very specific about which areas of a part will need repaired with them though. It is one thing to "strip & dip" a part but, it is another thing to do all the necessary repairs before plating.

This is a long shot but may be worth looking in to.
I bought a reproduction Stainless Steel grille for my 1935 Std restoration. It was identical to the original except no possibility of rust... ever.
These guys can make any sized grille. No center bars or outer rings available at that time.
Now for the bad news... this was in 1981.
K D Reproductions Alexandria Virginia don't have the zip or phone number... was lucky to find anything in my archives.
Let me know what you find out
