What steering wheel is the correct one for the 40 pick-ups, what spline is used for the 40's and what is the correct horn assembly for the steering wheel. Does anyone have a source for restoring cracked steering wheels. Thanks, Harold Pickett

The 1940 truck steering wheel was also used on 1938-1940 trucks, 1937-1938 Master ( straight axle) passenger cars, .... The 1941-1946 wheel looked the same but the horn set-up was different. Once they went to the splines in 1938 that area stayed the same for many years.
I still need your email address for the tire carrier picture.

Chevgene: Thanks for the reply about the steering wheel, my email is: picpockett_414@msn.com I appreciate you taking the time to resend the pictures of the tire carriers. I have seen several tire carriers parts but not a complete tire carrier for the 40 pickups. Again, thank you Harold Pickett

I used the steering wheel repair kit from POR-15 to repair the cracks in the steering wheel on my '46 pickup. It is an epoxy based filler. Kit had good instructions. Will need to paint the wheel after repairs are completed. Repairs have held up well.

I used PC-7 kit for my '46 truck steering wheel and it worked well and is holding up fine only 411 miles on it though). somewhat easy to work with and sands nicely. I have a couple of rather large 1/4" sections where chunkc were missing and they filled nicely and you would never know they were there now.
