Evening all-

I have noticed recently an intermittent "miss", accompanied by a barely audible "hiss" or "pffft" while the engine is running. Some times they are back to back, other times several seconds apart. The frequency of these tends to increase slightly as the engine warms, almost to the point of running rough as the engine stays at operating temperature after a long drive. Any suggestions as to the cause and cure?

Thanks, Bob

If its OK when engine is cold or during warm-up but occurs when engine is hot it could be valve adjustment.
Valves may have been adjusted before the engine parts were completely hot and expanded.
Timing may be advance a couple of degrees too far.
Could be a vacuum leak.

If you hold a light weight piece of paper behind the tail pipe with the engine running, does the mis coincide with a strong flutter of the paper. If so I would follow up on what Gene said and readjust the valves but only after about a 10 mile run to make sure the engine is up to operating temperature. The temp gage will show water temp at operating long before the oil, valve train, and other parts are there. talk
