This is going to sound really stupid to some of you - of course I know someone will relate.

About 10 years ago I was going to restore my 48 pick up. I just took off the rear fenders to clean around the frame. To make a very long story short - I took apart the entire truck.

Then - again as some may relate to - I got a deal on a 48 Plymouth that I couldn't turn down. Well the Plymouth is finished. I have gone from one end of the frame to the other cleaning 60 years of road scum off the Chevy. Last week end I put the cab back on and I realized I DON'T REMEMBER WHERE ANY THING GOES.

For the Plymouth I have a parts manual that shows every part. Is there a recommended book for the Chevy. Little things like I know there must be some rubber that goes under the cab, what kind of bolts, I don't want to miss anything.

I've got some pictures but I'm not sure how to post them yet. I feel really stupid.

DLJ--I know exactly how you feel. I took a 33 apart about 4 years ago and I`m having the same problems because I stopped to work on another car. I did take lots of pictures but lost the hard drive in my computer and now I`m having to rely on my losey memory.

The Master Parts Catalog has a few diagrams that are rather helpful. It is online here!

You can find paper reproductions on ebay too if you prefer. I don't know of an assembly manual like you can find for later cars/trucks.

Keith's website has a lot of very good information including a copy of the 1947-53 Truck Shop Manual. Another resource that I found very useful is the 1947-54 Truck Factory Assembly Manual, which is available as a reproduction and can be purchased from several different vendors. Be advised though that all the drawings are 1954, but is still very helpful.

Another thing that I found very helpful while rebuilding my '50 were old brouchures, data books, etc that showed actual pictures of these old trucks. There are also a couple of other sites like this one with awesome forums with plenty of knowledgable folks who love to cuss and discuss. My regular hang-out is the Classic Parts 47-54 forum. Stovebolt Pages has a great forum too.
