First I believe that your 1950 Chevrolet is a Deluxe model, not a "Special". The Special was the "cheap" model and had not chrome around the windows.
The body section of the shop manual has the instructions for removing the windshield chrome can be found there. The instructions are quite lengthy.
The best bet would be to get a copy of the 1949 Fisher Body Manual from the Filling Station. The 1949 manual will cover 99 percent of the info.

The chrome (stainless) trim at the base of the windshield and rear window uses tabbed T shaped keeper screws that slide into the stainless trim then bolt through the body. They can be reached from the trunk and under the dash. The trim is not chrome.
The sides and top pieces of both windows are actually inserted into the rubber channel assembly with the glass. Then the assembly is inserted into the window frame.

1st step. Remove bottom pieces
2nd step. Remove bottom corner pieces.
3rd step. Losten center exterior stainless by removing screws from inside center divider moulding.
3rd step. Push window out from the inside of the vehicle starting at the bottom corner.

Its a real pain in the tail, however if you are going to replace the windshield rubber then you might be better off just cutting the rubber on the exterior windshield to loosen and remove the stainless pieces. It takes the stress off the rubber and relaxes it to allow for easier removal from the vehicle. Hope this helps.
