Where can I locate spare tire mounted mirrors. I have seen the ones that are fastened on with leather straps but can't remember where. I am thinking about installing a pair on my '32 Roadster.
Thanks, Jim V.

This is what the correct ones look like: http://www.1931chevrolet.com/accessories11.htm You can see them on a 1932. the ones at the bottom of the picture with the longer bases I do not believe were for Chevrolet but the experts can confirm this. Bruce DeFord was going to repro these. How are you coming Bruce?

Yes, the photo on the lower right-hand corner of the page is of a Trico mirror that is for a larger car. The Trico mirror shown is the same as the one used on Chevrolet except for the larger base, which, by the way, can be cut to match the correct base for the accessory 1931-32 Trico mirror. :cool2:
Brucie was working on reproducing the mirrors but I don't think he has made much progress, and he doesn't frequent Chevy Chatter much anymore so your question may go unanswered. :( :( :(

I don't know how well those mirrors work on 32s, but I can't even see the right hand mirror on my 33, and I am rather long bodied. The left hand mirror works well enough. Tires are 525/550 18.

The trouble is the generic ones like used on the Model A's etc have short posts also. There are ones that can be purchased with taller posts but they look a little out of scale for the car. If someone is looking for mirrors for practicality and not looks then ones mounted at the doors one way or the other are probably a better way to go.

On Don Rumbaugh's mirrors, he also made the trico style ones but used a strap to mount them. Although I never purchased mirrors from Don, the parts I bought years ago were always of nice quality.
