Just acquired a 1940 chevrolet 4 door. Have all the numbers from the plate on the firewall
Anyone able to help with identification from these numbers?
IE:
colour says #44 Is this a beige/brown or a blue/grey
engine # 3672504 Is this a valve in head or a flat head number?
vehicle serial# is 0101903880
model # 1019
Anyone that may have a way to identify these numbers, would be greatly appreciated.

Brian,

While certainly no expert, I can tell you that your car is a Special Deluxe Series Sport Sedan. Your engine is valve in head (over head valve.) The quickest way to see this is that there is a valve cover on top of the engine.

Your color number must be a Canadian number. The information that I have (from the Chevs of the 40's catalog - check them out on line) only list 3 digit color numbers that run from 262 - 282.

I hope this helps.

The 1940 Canadian engine numbers ran from 1997877 to 3556862. The serial numbers from 000001 to 16177.
The 1941 engine numbers ran from 3556863 to 3761521.
The serial number is correct for a 1940, the engine number indiactes the engine is a 1941. Is the engine number stamped into the ID plate? A picture of the top left side of the engine would help to determine the year.
I do not have the Canadian paint numbers.
All Canadian Chevrolets had a valve in head engine, as well as some Pontiacs.
