For the 29's were there two types of tail light housings available that year.
My housing seems to be upside down.
Thanks.

Just one. Is the clear lens on the bottom? If it is, turn over the lens and rim. If not, turn over the whole housing. Two nuts.

It is reverse to what I have seen or what is in the manual. The clear lens is at the bottom and the littler section works as the brake light. I think the big round part should be the brake light.
When I tried to reverse the red glass lens and chrome colored retainder, it would not fit in reverse.?????
I am confused.
Thanks.

Check out your 1929 owner's manual...there is an illustration of the tail light housing shown there. The clear lens for the license plate goes on the very bottom of the housing, and the word "Stop" (which is correct for 1929) on the celluloid lens goes on top. The bottom section of the celluloid lens has the Chevrolet bow-tie with "Chevrolet" on the face. At any rate, the brake light section of the light is on top and the tail light section of the light is on the bottom.

The "big round part" (which is on the bottom of the light) is not the brake light...it is the tail light!

If you have a plain aftermarket glass lens the installation is the same.

Ok My clear lens is on the bottom. The brake light on the top, but the smaller section, not the big round light. The glass is aftermarket. Thanks.

The way that you described the installation in your posting above is correct.

If the round part is on the bottom and the moon shaped piece on top, isn't that reversed?

As stated in the above posting:

No, it is not reversed. Again, the round part is on the bottom of the tail light and the half-moon part is on the top of the light. The half-moon is the brake light and the big round part is the tail light/license plate light.

The big round part has to be on the bottom because the clear license plate lens is also on the bottom and it is illuminated by the bulb in the tail light part of the assembly.

CHECK THE ILLUSTRATION IN YOUR 1929 OWNER'S MANUAL.

Looking at mine the round part is on top, the moon piece is on the bottom (sort of like a smile), The clear glass lens on the bottom. Reversing the red glass lens and retainer does not line up. Any ideas?

According to your posting on May 18th the brake light is on top and so is the smaller section (the half moon) which is the way it is supposed to be. Now, on your latest posting you said that the round part is on top and the half moon is on the bottom. So, which way is it??

Installing the tail light lens and rim on the tail light assembly is not that difficult if you have the correct parts.

My memory was reinforced last night when I got home from work and looked again. Today's discription is right.
As I said, when I took off the red lens etc and tried to reverse it, it did not line up. It was off center. It is like the inside part that holds the bulbs and accepts the screws, needed to be reversed.\, but can't reverse.
Thanks.

The inside part of the tail light housing that holds the lense screws can be reversed. It is held in place by the upper taillight mounting bolt. The screw hole tabs for the lense screws should be pointing down toward the license light. If the plate is upside down, I imagine the stoplight bulb would be difficult to get in properly.
