recently bought a cowl vent seal for my 38. Package says "35(Master)&36-48 Chev". Since my car did not have a seal and vent door was not in place at purchase of car. What is the correct way(orientation) of installing this seal? One side of seal has a groove that runs in the middle all around the circumference. The other side is flat, except for a thin lip that runs the circumference.

Which side goes to the car and which side to the vent door? I assume it is glued(weather strip glue)to the car, or is it glued to the vent door?

Suggestions apreciated

I can't say I recognize your description but the seal sits in the cowl, in that annular area around the outer perimeter, with the inner feather edge (your "thin lip") pointing up. The vent door closes and hits the inner feather edge first on the inside bottom of the vent door, then the bottom edge of the vent door presses against the seal. I glued it to the cowl after I got it to sit right.
