The doghouse/radiator support lower "chin" piece is supposed to have 2(I think) sheet metal tabs("L" brackets?). My good chin piece only has one, and it is distorted. Is the tab supposed to be bent in an "L" shape? Is the tab supposed to have a sheet metal screw through grill into tab to hold, or is there supposed to be a "J" nut on the tab?
Any insight on this subject appreciated

I looked at my chin piece and I don't see any brackets (if you mean separate pieces of metal). There are two pieces that make up the bottom of the radiator dog house, the outer chin and the inner baffle. They are all riveted to the dog house. There are four rivets along the bottom back of the chin piece that connect it to the baffle.

There are two sheet metal screws that are used to mount each grille half to the dog house that go into tabs on the front of the chin, but that does not hold the chin in place. The tabs should point straight up so the screw passing through the grille half into the chin would be parallel to the ground. Can you post a picture of what parts you have?

Brian, after looking at the chin piece again, it appears the driver side tab is missing. I will need to frabricate a tab out of sheet metal and tack weld it in place. Then bend to align with the grill, drill hole in tab and use sheet metal screw. What type screw do I need to look for, phillips head, slotted head, chrome plated or stainless and size??

I would send a picture, but I do have limitations on how do do some things!

It's been a while since I had mine out but I believe it's a #12 for size. It's a slotted pan head screw about 1/2" long.

I just used some pan heads that fit. I don't know the exact size.
