i have a 1950 chevy styline special with 235 cc engine and no oil filter what is the best oil to use

You don't indicate the current condition of the engine, however I would recommend 10-W-30 detergent oil.

A 1950 Styleline Special would have had a 216 engine....looks like you have an "up-grade".....Would also recommend 10W-30 oil.
