I just joined, my father has a car he bought in 1971. He was told it was a 1926 Superior K Landau model. Everything I've read says that that the year and letter designation do not go together. It has the landau irons and has metal disc wheels.
In photos that I've seen, it looks just like a 1926 Series V Landau Sedan.
Can anyone shed any light? Was there a 1926 Series K?

This one has been beat around the bush for years. For the sake of discussion, you can have a 1926 with the word Superior and a "K" on the data plate. My theory is that they had a box full of data plates left over from the Superior K and just continued to use them till they were all gone.

The car number plate will have Superior K and the serial number. Will have a number (one or two digits) and then a "V" followed by the sequential number of the vehicle in each assembly plant. I agree with Ray that it appears that they had a bunch of plates that had Superior K on them that they used after they changed to the "V" Series.

The number plate says---"Fisher Body Corp Detroit Michigan
Correspondence pertaining to the body must contain these numbers....Job No 6740
Body No S12466 "
This plate is at the top of the cowl in the engine compartment
one inch down from the top where the webbing is that the hood rests on.....

The Job # 6740 indicates a 1926 Five Passinger Landau sedan.

Hi Charles - welcome to the club. Tell us more about the landau. You mentioned disc wheels. Do they have 6 acorn nuts holding the wheel to the hub, or 4? Also, where are the spark and throttle controls located, on the dash, or close to the steering wheel? Describe your tail light, round, oval? All these features will tell whether it is an early V, or late V.
