Hi,

Just wondering what should my cylinder head bolt’s be torque’d down to?
It’s for a 1927 Chevy engine being rebuilt. The repair manual has no mention of torque.

Thank’s

Aldo

The repair manual says "tight". Since torque wrenches were not used until the 30s there is no "official" value. Given the bolts are soft 60 ft-lbs is the max. for them.

If you are using the old head bolts and you feel the bolt stretching, STOP.

New head bolts are available from the Filling Station and may be torques to the 60 pounds Chipper recommended. I don't recommend any more that 50-55 pounds on the old bolts.
