Hi, If it still has a filter in it pull and see if it has any part numbers. If it doesn't, remove it completely, and take careful measurements. Take these to the oldest parts clerk you can find at your favorite parts house.

So your 33 was assembled in the first three months of 1933?

Yes it was. The previous owner dismantled the car 25 years ago and does not have a spare filter nor does he know the part number. I did take the measurements to a parts store that has always been successful tracking parts for my old cars, but he had no luck. I am going to give him the Purolator Part Number tomorrow - he said that may help. The Filling Station did not have one the size I needed and told me to run the car without the filter because little oil gets filtered through it anyway, but I prefer to use a filter. I may have some luck tomorrow so I can get this thing fired up this weekend.

Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.

Post the Purolator info you have. Maybe someone can help. I have some old filter catalogs with interchange info.

Hey Mike
My parts guy found a filter element that matches closely on dimensions - 4" diameter and 4.5" height. I will pick it up later today. If it works, I will post the part number. The actual housing was made by a company in NJ. On the cap is written Type 1501N Purolator. A 1501N comes up in the parts books as an air filter, so we just tried to match the dimensions as closely as possible. I will know today, if I have found the correct filter element and I will pass the info along.

The most important demension is the opening in the center of the oil filter. The filter must be a snug fit on the center post of the oil filter. If it isn't snug the oil will not pass through the fileter element.
