I have 3 wires 2 green and 1 black wire attacked to the compressor. They have a 3 prong female wire connector with a hook to attach it to one of the metal lines. There is a male end plugged into it w/out wires. Just dead ends. I was told that a thermal switch was supposed to plugged into the female end. This was to cut out compressor if it got to hot. Does anyone have one of these or a picture of one.
Also on my Carb there is like a celinoid mounted to the drivers front corner of carb. This is to kick up the idol when the A/C is on. There is no wire plugged into it. Do i jump a wire from A/C compressor(green, black)? the A/C works in the car but was told that i am on borrowed time with it because of these problems. any help would be great

The solinoid on the carburetor is to complete cut off the idle speed when the ignition is turned of. This was to prevent diseling or run-on.
If no one answers I wii get back to the wire problem later.

i had a couple back yard mechanics, including "The Carb Shop" who rebuilds carbs tell me that it was for the A/c. The replaced the carb with the correct 1 for that year. the old 1 didn't have the celinoid but the replacement one did. Guess i just got bad info on that then. Thanks for the response

Compressor wires
There is a short black one that goes to ground.

Then there is another black that goes to the super heat switch on the back of the compressor.

What may be misssing is the thermal limiter fuse and connector. The thermo limiter has a fuse that will blow if the freon gets too low. It prevents burning up the compressor. The connector has three wires. The balck wire that goes to the back of the compressor
A dark green wire that goes to the ambient switch
dark green wire with white tracer goes to the clutch-this is the large pulley at the front of the compressor. When the fuse blows the clutch can not lock up and the compressor will not "work"
You have to find some one that worked on these-from like 1971-1976. They will know what to look for right away. That would be a guy over 60 years old. laugh

The above may be slightly incorrect but the main thing is to find a person that know what he is doing.
There is to much in the shop manual to print out.
