Hi All,

Would the serial number GA116 on the rear differential indicate a manufacture date of January 16 or November 6?

I am suspecting Nov. 6, as the car was assembled in Nov. 1949.

Thanks,
Bob

G=1949 (model car)
A=made by Cleveland gear and axle and is 4.11 ratio(some were made in Buffalo)
The first two digits are the month, last two are the day of the month.
My guess would be Nov. 6 of 1949. Jan would be a 1950 or for 1949 a very early 1949.
If the car was assembled in Nov. of 1949 it would have the out side hood release (no button under the dash) and all the other late 1949 up-dates.
1949's were assembled from 12-15-48 through 12-2-49.

Thanks Gene, for your response.

Interesting though, both of those dates in 1949 were Sundays.
